CHN Energy Qinghai Branch’s Dachaidan 1000MW Photovoltaic Project Put into Full Operation and Connected to the Grid

On July 31, with the second phase of the 500MW photovoltaic project successfully connected to the grid, CHN Energy Qinghai branch’s Dachaidan 1000MW photovoltaic project achieved full-capacity operation and was completely connected to the grid.

The Dachaidan 1000MW photovoltaic project

The project is located in the Dachaidan area of Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, averagely with 8.83 sunshine hours a day. The long sunshine time and wide light coverage bestow on the area advantageous natural endowments for photovoltaic power generation. With a total investment of 4.38 billion yuan, the project covers an area of 1,552.5 hectares and consists of 137 sub-phalanxes. It uses six types of monocrystalline silicon double-sided, double-glass photovoltaic modules with capacities of 545, 550, 555, 645, 650, and 655 watts, respectively, as well as 196 kW and 300 kW string inverters. Moreover, it is equipped with fixed brackets and 137 6.5MVA box transformers, and 47 collector lines, with cables extending nearly 8,000 kilometers. After the project was put into operation, it would contribute 1.793 billion kWh of clean energy per year, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of nearly 1.6 million households, save 561,000 tons of standard coal, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 6,140 tons, carbon dioxide emissions by 1.684 million tons, carbon monoxide emissions by 147 tons, nitrogen dioxide emissions by 6,483 tons, and soot emissions by 7,588 tons. The project will further help achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. It is of great significance to build a new power system and boost local economic and social development.
